In 1986, a group of visionaries started this organization with the goal of encouraging artists across the state to be bold and create new work. Since then, we have invested over $10 million in grants, resources, and career training for thousands of emerging, mid-career, and established artists in Washington State.
With a $1.2 million annual budget, 12-member staff, and 26-member board of trustees, in 2016 we granted over $350,000 to 85 artists - the most in our history – while unveiling a new Strategic Plan, Racial Equity Plan, and celebrating our 30th anniversary.
More than thirty years of thoughtful and responsive effort bolstering the work of Washington artists of all disciplines has given us strength, expertise, and stability to look forward to a bright future.
Conditions for artists in Washington State are changing rapidly, and it is critical for us to extend the reach and impact of our programs, and be flexible and responsive to artists’ needs.
Artist Trust needs your support to ensure that artists across Washington State have the tools, support, and resources they need to thrive and continue to enrich our communities.
